Hawks Battled Hard Against No. 2 Folsom Lake
Cosumnes River battled hard against No. 2 Folsom Lake on Wednesday night but ultimately fell 76–63 in a competitive conference matchup. The Hawks stayed within striking distance for most of the game but were unable to overcome the depth and balanced scoring of the Falcons.
Ariel Bailey led the Hawks with 14 points and eight rebounds, knocking down two three-pointers and contributing on both ends of the floor. Zakara Cooper added 21 points, including four three-pointers, along with three assists and four steals, showcasing her ability to score and create opportunities for teammates. Aletha Singleton chipped in 12 points and six rebounds, while Peyton Thorpe added 11 points and five rebounds in another efficient performance.
Cosumnes River shot 40.6 percent from the field and forced 15 turnovers, recording 15 steals as the Hawks applied consistent defensive pressure. Despite holding Folsom Lake to 25 percent shooting from three-point range, the Falcons' balanced attack, led by Jada Tupou's 16 points and Kelis Powell's 15 points, proved decisive. Folsom Lake also out-rebounded the Hawks 43–34, giving them extra opportunities to control the pace of the game.
The Hawks showed resilience late, outscoring the Falcons 13–18 in the fourth quarter, but the early deficit from the first half kept the game out of reach.
