Hawks Fall on the Road to No. 18 San Joaquin Delta
Despite the final score, Cosumnes River College showed flashes of strong play and resilience in a 4–1 road loss to ranked San Joaquin Delta on March 3.
Cosumnes River kept the game tight for much of the afternoon, leaning on a solid pitching effort from Xochitl Atayde, who battled through six innings and limited a ranked Delta lineup to just four runs. Atayde worked around traffic multiple times and kept the game scoreless through the first three innings, giving CRC a chance to strike first.
Cosumnes River responded in the top of the inning driving in the team's lone run.
Defensively, CRC stayed competitive and avoided major mistakes, committing just one error.
The game ultimately swung in the sixth inning when Delta capitalized and added two insurance runs. Still, Cosumnes River continued to battle late, showing disciplined at-bats and competitive energy against one of the region's top-ranked teams.
