Hawks Show Fight in Road Loss to #2 Santa Rosa

Cosumnes River College delivered a determined and competitive performance on the road, narrowly falling 2–1 to No. 2 Santa Rosa on November 14. The Hawks struck first and showed they could go toe-to-toe with one of the top teams in the state, controlling stretches of play and applying consistent pressure throughout the match.

CRC opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when Sean Miller finished a well-worked attack off an assist from Michael Villasenor, giving the Hawks a deserved early lead. Santa Rosa responded quickly with two goals before halftime, but the match remained tight from start to finish.

Cosumnes River totaled seven shots with five on goal and earned five corner kicks, frequently forcing Santa Rosa to defend. Goalkeeper Sergio Duarte turned in a solid 90-minute effort with four saves, keeping CRC within striking distance until the final whistle.

Despite the result, the Hawks' performance highlighted their resilience, organization, and ability to compete with elite opposition. Against a highly ranked Santa Rosa squad, Cosumnes River proved it belongs on the same field and gained valuable momentum heading into the remainder of the season.
