Hawks Rise Above Adversity, Rally Past Folsom Lake 72–56 in Relocated Home Game
Even without their home court, Cosumnes River College proved they didn't need familiar surroundings to deliver a dominant performance. Forced to relocate their January 30 matchup to Sacramento City College due to a power outage on campus, the Hawks embraced the challenge and responded with a powerful second-half surge to defeat Folsom Lake 72–56.
Cosumnes River, still the designated host despite the venue change, shook off a seven-point halftime deficit and completely controlled the second half. The Hawks outscored Folsom Lake 41–18 in the second half, turning up the defensive pressure and playing with poise and physicality that reflected a veteran, conference-contending team.
Jake Williams led all scorers with 17 points, while Mason Marsh was a force inside, posting 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks to anchor the paint. Aalijah Gillyard added a gritty all-around effort with 10 rebounds and 4 assists, and Jaden High delivered instant offense off the bench, going a perfect 4-for-4 for 10 points. As a team, Cosumnes River shot an efficient 53.7% from the field, won the rebounding battle 36–29, and finished with 19 team assists, showcasing their balance and depth.
Folsom Lake came out strong early but Cosumnes River capitalized off of 24 turnovers and steadily pulled away, making the neutral-site floor feel very much like a Hawks home game.
With the win, Cosumnes River improved to 19–4 overall and 9–2 in conference, reinforcing their status as one of the top teams in the region.
